I am currently a real estate agent and mom of 3 CCISD students, but previously worked in the education realm for 15 years. I have a Bachelor of Science in mathematics from Texas A&M University and two master’s degrees from University of Houston Clear Lake in instructional technology and educational administration. I taught middle school and high school math for 7 years before joining the NASA JSC Office of Education. While at JSC, I worked with high school and community college students, as well as middle school teachers, as they each completed online curriculum and hands-on science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) activities.
I am active in the community and my passion is education. I am currently a VP for the Ed White Elementary PTA and love being able to volunteer at my daughters’ school. I also volunteer with SystemsGo, an innovative high school rocketry/aeroscience curriculum that uses project-based learning to teach STEM, develop skills in teamwork, problem-solving, and leadership, and encourages careers in the engineering industries. I am a Girl Scout Troop Leader and member of Bay Area Moms of Multiples where I served on the board for several years. I also volunteered with the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo Speakers Committee where I educated students in classrooms across the Houston area.
Now more than ever parents need to be involved in the education of their children and I would be privileged to represent the teachers, staff and students in CCISD as a Trustee. We are blessed to live in such an amazing school district with so many opportunities for our children. I am running for CCISD Trustee because I know what we do as a district can make a difference and I believe I have the background and ambition to support the excellent work CCISD is already doing.
